1908 farthing “woody” ?

    looks like a woody to me. Doesn’t appear to have been harshly cleaned - this pattern is very even. Thoughts?

    I would say you have an Improper Mixed Alloy coin. I does have a wood like pattern.
    It also looks like it has a very rough and pitted surface. The details seem to be missing, like hair lines, and the line on Britannia's shield.

    Looks like it has been in the ground, corroded.
    I get tons of these.
    They go in the copper scrap bin.

    The surface is actually very smooth. I have an IHC that has similar patterning and is also very smooth - no putting it visible scratches, just smoothed from use

    I agree with @daveydempsey The letters and details are soft and blurred. It's a sign of environmental damage. The corrosion spots on the obvers also point to that

    Agree about environmental damage. Can’t see “under” or “beyond” that to determine if it’s a woody.
