Oh man, what a rough day. Our poor old dog Max died this morning. Today we had an appointment to take him to the vet, so I'm glad I didn't have to take him in. I knew what I was going to have to do. He got to die at home getting head rubs from his dad instead of going to that old rotten vets office he hated so much. Total wreck, had to take the day off work, but now I have a bit to much free time and need to distract myself a bit, so here is a dog post! Here are some pics of Max some of you may have seen here on CT. The in dire need of a grooming pic (he hated going to that place too! LOL! ). The passing out Halloween candy to the kids when he hurt his back pic. The smile for the camera pic. Just the other day I was thinking I didn't have a dog coin, but while reading one of @Roman Collector thread about Artemis I realized I do, so I'll post it again! Faustina II, Augusta Traiana, Thrace, 161-175 AD O: ΦAYCTEINA CEBACTH. R: AYΓOYCTHC TPAIANHC, Artemis huntress with hound, right hand reaching for an arrow in quiver at shoulder and holding bow in left. Moushmov 2982. 26x24 mm, 11.4g Artemis had a pet dog for a hunting buddy. Man, I'm going to miss my little buddy. I know some of you have awesome little furred, feathered, and scaled buddies at home, so feel free to post a pet pic or a pet coin.
I believe that I've experienced unconditional love from two sources during my lifetime—my mother and my dog. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. The death of a pet dog can cause extreme heartache so take it easy and be good to yourself. I have a few birds like these zebra and society finches.
My heart goes out to you. And some tears also. Here are my two lost exactly two months apart, Nov. 3rd for my Quaker Parrot I had for 25 years "Aurianna" and my Jack Russell "Popeye" Jan. 3rd, just short of her 9th birthday. I will never be over this.
Always hard to let go, we lost many dogs in the past, why cant they live longer like turtles. Here's a pic of Lola, numero 4 in line of Parson Jack Russells , our first female dog, she has all the good things in dog behaviour, in contrast to the 3 males we had.
Sorry for your loss, Chris. Right now, the only thing in the house I consider a pet is a really vicious guppy my son brought home from a school excursion, but when I was growing up, we always had a dog or two in the house. They really are the best. Here’s a doggy didrachm from Segesta in Max’s honour.
I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your dog @chrsmat71 My dog is a mix breed and is ten. He is also my daughter's best friend. Some days my wife and I think she likes the dog more than us, especially when the arguments over bedtime or vegetables take place.
Sorry for your loss. I somewhat understand what you are going through. Three years ago this month I had to put down a cat that was part of the family for 18 years. It was one of the toughest things I ever had to do. RIP Robin.
Sorry for your loss - here’s my furry animal (about 7 years old): And the best medieval cat coin I have: Norman Italy - Sicily William II, r. 1166-1189 Messina Mint, Second Copper Large Follaro, 25.28 mm x 11.2 grams Obv.: Lion Head Rev.: Palm tree with dates Ref.: NCKS 372, MEC 14.425
So very sorry for your loss. We lost a dog in March and our remaining dog is well past his sell by date. For a tibetan terrier 18 years and 7 months is ancient.
@chrsmat71 ... Chris, I am deeply sorrowed by your loss. All my life I have had MANY pets, upwards of a dozen at the same time. Each and every had such an impact on your life. Some were incredible souls that truly touched your life. My dog Blue has been with me for 10 years. She is starting to show her age with a white face as well as arthritis... She is incredible as she was an alert dog for my wife's 4 heart attacks (alerting 2-3 days in advance!) Additionally, she has alerted me a few times, way in advance, for some health issues. She is a loving type dog to anyone who meets her... Basset/Beagle/Australian Shepherd... (yeah, she is my Avatar also). Oh Chris, I'm so sorry. It hurts so much when a beloved pet dies. I grew up with pets, primarily dogs and cats but a smattering of other animals. My last pet, a cat, died a decade ago and I still haven't had another. It's just so hard when they die. Meanwhile I get my kitty fix by taking care of my neighbor's cat when she's away.
So sorry for your loss... Here's a pic of our dog Allie. She's a 13 year old American Hairless Terrier.
I'm so sorry to hear about Max, Chris. It's so hard to lose a beloved pet. Here is a picture of Herbert whose now heading into brumation for a couple of months: Here is the late Leo, a very photogenic leopard gecko: Erin
