WOW!!!!!!!!!!! It's even got some gorgeous color and nice crescent reverse! Technically I would call it a 62, but I'm sure this has been "Market" graded and is in a 64 holder.
Yeah I think either way it looks like a 63. That is 1 freaking awesome Morgan and I'm sure it wasn't cheap u Dirty Dog
I also thought the colors were great (although I felt the reverse was neutral/slightly negative). But to me this is "Market" grading to the max. With all those hits, I just don't see MS 65 (much less 65+). And why did CAC sticker it? I know they stand behind their sticker and will buy the coin at their bid, so maybe that was the reason? I would have bought it at my bid too. However, it sold for almost $3.5K. So the high bidders seemed to not mind the "market" grading. Edit: if you look at the TrueView, the coin looks to have less hits. However, TrueViews are often the best possible image and they can hide some hits depending on the photo style. GreatCollections images on the other hand usually are a better representation of the coin. And I owned another MS 65 from GC (posted it as a GTG); that one also had a TrueView that made the coin look nicer than the GreatCollections image and the in-hand look.
I'm embarrassed to say, I can see that grade for the market, all day long. If they bumped it to MS64, nobody could let it go for under gem money, not that one, not in their life. I like it in that holder. Everybody knows, it's a "market grade."
I still believe it would be worth $1k-$1.5k in its proper MS 64 holder. The MS 65+ grade was what pushed it to $3.5k, which is beyond gem money (that around MS 68 untoned money).
Shoot.....missed my chance. I would have graded it at '63 due to the 'chatter' on the face of liberty. Pretty coin and interesting colour.
