MM QUESTION ON dime

    You see the pull on MM why is it there and not on Rim?

    I think the MM is in the correct place. The small striations around it is caused by die wear from the metal rubbing against it in the same direction on every coin it strikes.

    I just usually see them pulling from the rim

    I think it is more like pushing towards the rim. the field on the coin is the highest part of the die so it spends the most time in contact with the coin blank. As the blank is squeezed, the metal flows outward towards the rim, lightly abraiding the die on each strike and after enough strikes, you get this kind of pattern. Why your piece shows it only from the mintmark may be the result of the punch for the mintmark being sunk hard enough to displace die metal above the field surface, creating an area that would wear quicker, causing the marks.
