I have a 1965 error quarter I discovered in my pocket change a 1965 no mint mark quarter that was mistakenly struck on a 90% silver planchet. How much worth and how can I sell it?
Highly doubtful. What makes you think it is struck on a silver planchet? Have you weighed it? What does the edge look like?
A silver planchet weighs 6.25 grams, a clad planchet weighs 5.67 grams. Weigh it on an accurate, calibrated scale and you'll have your answer. It's even easier to check the edge as others have suggested FWIW: based on your pic, it looks like the normal clad planchet
Good point but I'm sure this quarter is silver planchet. This is different looks and sounds different from 1966. I'm going to buy a scale to know how much weight. Thanks
@Expiri59 Post a clear, cropped pic of the edge. This is the easiest way to verify. If it has potential (don't get your hopes up), then getting a weight is the next step. Save your money for now
The edge of a silver coin is solid silver colored. The edge of a clad coin has a layer of copper sandwiched between the 2 silver layers. If you see the copper, it's a normal quarter. Or better yet, POST A PIC
Welcome to Coin Talk. Just a normal 1965 quarter. You might like to buy a kit that comes with a digital scale, eye loupe, and caliper to help in identifying coins.
