Wow man. I didn't mean for anyone to go into a tirade. I won't ever comment on anything silly such as I did again. I honestly was just kidding around. The guys know me well enough that I was comfortable to say that this was the wrong Forum. I guess I hit a few nerves so I will end it here and now. The title is of course Post your ERROR coins.. but I respect what you have said.. Peace
jtlee321...I agree 100% with everything you stated. The coin hobby can be pursued for many different reasons and in many different ways. I personally do it for the historical value and the challenge to find examples of coins to fill in some gaps in my collection. I also enjoy the exhilaration of the hunt, never knowing when you might stumble across a valuable coin that somehow got back into circulation. I just recently found a 1909 Lincoln V.D.B. from a penny roll; I had one other in my collection but the latter find is an upgrade! Makes you wonder how it came about being placed back into circulation. I collect predominantly US Coinage but have many coins from several different countries as well. I am new to this organization and would not knowingly make an incorrect post on a particular subject topic. However, mistakes are sometimes made and comments may mistakenly be made off topic. As collectors we are so fortunate to be a part of an organization where so many are so willing to share their coins and their knowledge for the benefit of all. I'm not going to get upset because someone posts a comment incorrectly...I'm not perfect and I don't expect others to be. .
I hope you were not referring to me. As I stated I apologize. I was just kidding when I made my comment that this thread should be in the Error Coins Forum. I'm not perfect either
Not at all paddyman98... The comment was to encourage all to practice a little tolerance for one another should a comment not applicable to the subject/topic at hand be wrongly posted. Being a newby I made that mistake once and it was called to my attention in a nice manner and I strive to make all my postings relevant to the topic. I appreciate everyone's points of view and encourage all to comment and share pics and information on topics of mutual interest and beneficial to others. This is a wonderful hobby and I learn something new or different about coin collecting each day.
Could you explain where you think you see an error? The coin is badly damaged, but that is all I see.
I see nothing. Looks like a normal Cent with circulation wear and tear.. If you are thinking it's the famous 1969 S Doubled Die variety then no..
A true lamination happens when the metal is poured into ingots and a piece of dirt or an air bubble is trapped inside of the metal. If the lamination is on the surface when rolling to a thickness, it is called a surface lamination. Lamination's can occur inside the coin and you will not see it. So, a lamination must be there before the coining operation starts.
Has anybody ran across new 2024 quarter with dbled eyelid, a booger nose wit two boots, and droolin George with a die crack on obverse and reverse
