Hey guys I think I just found my first dd. If not I'm going to give up searching. I think there's doubling on the date and logo above. Thanks for your help.
Machined doubled. No extra value. Telling the diff between a true doubled die and machine doubling can be difficult for new error collectors. Go to wexler's doubled die site (google it) and read the tab on Worthless Doubling. While your at it, check out the rest of the site. There is a lot of great info on the minting process
Hang on to it and check out the "Wexler's" site. By the way, don't give up coin roll hunting. Most times you have to dig a lot of dirt before you hit the treasure.
Thanks for letting me know my battery is almost dead but explain what that has to do with my question? If your implying I altered the photo in any other way then adding contrast that just tells me to keep my find because You must have seen somthing that you liked. Gumpy or not if don't have any useful info other then what I already know please refrain from replying to anything I post. Thanks Mountain Dick.
Looks like someone needs another cup of coffee. I was merely making an observation, nothing more, nothing less. You had already received the answer that it is MD, so why be redundant? And it is Grumpy, not gumpy.
I don't see any doubling. I see a damaged ('hit') on the 3, and some small 'ticks' on the motto, but no doubling. ...and the cent is harshly cleaned. please keep looking - but also realize that every coin that might 'look' different, or might have some type of doubling, doesn't automatically make it an error, or a doubled die. The back of The CherryPicker's Guide to Die Varieties has a great Appendix on the numerous types of doubling, and how to tell a true doubled die from the very very very common ejection/mechanical doubling that is found on large amounts of US coinage.
