1997 or 1982

hi,
i heard that they stop putting mostly copper in 1982
i also heard the same thing except it was 1997 said

so when did they actually stop U.S. making pennys 97% copper

1997 was when Canada stopped making copper cents.

Just to clarify - in 1982 both the bronze and zinc cents were minted.
