I love my avatar coin, myWashington dollar with smooth edge, struck through both sides and die clash, my geocaching 100 finds coin (medal), and an 1820 bust dime the neighbor gave me for 10 cents, as long as i promised to keep it forever. (poor3)
baja: nice matte proof!!!! clembo: a touching sentiment... some day before I die, we HAVE to meet! on the subject of MY favorite: although picking one favorite coin is like picking a favorite child, if I had to narrow it down to only 1 it would be my 1937 - D 3 legger... the coin is a very nice AU, but has a staple scratch along the bison's back downgrading it to an XF-45 damaged coin. when I bought it, I didn't see the scratch, and so this coin has provided much for me to learn about.
Mine is this coin... I have this crazy I dea of surching rolls, and using the finds to sell/trade my way slowly to fill my danscos and work up to purchasing more of these. I also want a canadian maple leaf as well.
My favorite is a tie between my AG3 1916-D Mercury Dime and my AU53 1909-S VDB. I enjoy having them both.
I have several favorite coins. The coins that come to mind are almost all from circulation. An 1859 Indian Head cent given to me by my grandmother to start my collection in 1969 at age 8. She also gave me an 1842 large cent, an 1864 two-cent piece, a 1942-S Washington Quarter, a Whitman folder of about 30 Mercury dimes, two 1941 Walking Liberty half dollars and an 1882-H Canadian large cent. The first gold coin I ever purchased, the 1982 Canadian $100 Constitution patriation commemorative proof. The 1878 Morgan dollar my father brought home from his store's cash register. A small boy bought a dozen cupcakes in my dad's bakery with the coin. All of the 1964 Kennedy half dollars my mother slipped under the pillow each time a lost a baby tooth. A Royal Canadian Mint commemorative-wrapped roll of 20 1982 Constitution dollars handed to me as "change" at a Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce branch in Eaton Centre, Toronto in the year of issue. A .100-silver 1957 Mexican peso I received in change from a man selling carmelated milk candy (delicious, by the way) at the pyramids at Tenochititlan, Mexico in February 1975. Mark Coral Springs, FL
I don't think I really have a favorite coin in my collection. Might be eating my words later on, but as of this moment, can't think of one I favor more than my others. Phoenix
My sentimental favorite would be my 1911 Barber Head dime my dog Max dug up in the back yard about 15 years ago. It started my collecting. My favorite purchase is my 1883 CC Morgan wish I knew how to up load a pciture of it to get your opinions.
Someone in my family wore this around their neck when coming from Germany to America in 1850. Needless to say, it ain't going anywhere anytime soon!!!
"Someone in my family wore this around their neck when coming from Germany to America in 1850" Now THERE is a coin with provenance! A nice thought is that your family never had to spend it, and there were no gaurantees for an immigrant in 1850! Great coin- Mike
well this is my favorite i found this in Mexico when i was 12 (1983) on my way home from school, i thougt i was rich at the time, it was the oldest coin i had ever seen, but now i know it not much and that its a counterfit but its my best find on the ground.whats the date? what missing?
Hey, I way born in 1993 too! My favorite coin would have to be my 1684 old Roman coin. The oldest coin I have.
I have three: 1869 Pattern 25c MS63 & 1835 Bust Quarter with rainbow toning AU58 & 1883 Cameo Proof Seated Half PR63
