Found these 3 Panamanian halves (medios) in 3 different Loomis wrapped rolls. How is it they can segregate out the silver but these get through the sorter?

Because they are the same weight, size, and metal composition as US Halfs.

They also don't bother pulling out the silver, FYI.

I haven’t been lucky yet finding any silver in the halves. Just keep going I guess. Though I have found 3 silver nickels while nickel hunting

Agree, Loomis doesn’t pull Silver from circulation.

Try Increasing the number of boxes you search in a given week

Panamanian cinco centésimos, un décimos and cuartos, (U.S. nickel, dime and quarter equivalents) will work in vending machines as well. You see, Panamanian currency is pegged to the U.S. dollar at a 1:1 ratio. In fact, the country no longer uses its own paper currency so when you go there you just deal with and use U.S. dollars.

However, the country still issues its own coinage, which is (not so coincidentally?) of the same metallic composition as U.S. coinage, including the lesser-used halves. This basically allows the coins to pass through coin counting machines and processing centers without issue and only when they have direct contact with a human are they subject to removal from circulation when encountered outside of their country of origin.
