Here is a coin I have wanted for a while, a coin of Mary, Queen of Scots. These tend to go for a bit of money, but the crust seemed to keep others away, which was in my favor. Mary I of Scotland (1542 - 1567 A.D.) Scotland AR Bawbee O: MARIA · D :G · REGINA · SCOTORV: A crowned thistle, 'M' to its left and 'R' to the right. R: OPPIDVM · EDINBVRGI, Saltire behind a crown, flanked by a cinquefoil on each side. Edinburgh mint 21mm 1.78g SCBC 5432
Crossed one off my most-wanted list today! Got it in a group with a 10 and 20 korun for about double face value.
Mainz (German States) 1/8 Taler Death of Arch-Bishop Lothar Franz von Schönborn; Bishop of Mainz and Bamberg Alex. 637, Slg.Walther 476, Heller 309 KM 251
Nice score! I brought back a few of those from a visit to Prague last year. It's really a lovely coin (glad that some countries are still making them that way).
I have been wanting some of those C. Brooke coins for a long time. I just read some about his life on wikipedia, quite interesting.
Went to the local coin show today. Very happy got some "maundy" coinage. Spanish reales and even one from the pretender to the throne. And then a couple of German 3 marks for melt.
I got this two days ago. It has a skuff at Geo's forehead. The camera makes it look worse than it does in hand. The colors are hard to capture. Been in a vinyl flip for a while.
