    GOOOOD AFTERNOON ALL!:woot:

I wanted to see if anyone on here could assist me in determining if my 1960 Lincoln cent is the satin proof that's been hiding in a coin collection for how ever amount of years or just the "MS 65" number written on the 2x2?o_O

Please let me know whatcha' think and THANKS again in advance!:shame: 1960 Lincoln cent Satin finish obv.jpg 1960 Lincoln cent Satin finish rev.jpg

    It's not a Satin Finish.

One reason is that the US Mint
did not make Satin Finishes during
    that era.

Your coin is a nice BU (brilliant uncirculated) coin.

AWESOME!!! Thank you ALL kindly for the information! I will go ahead and render this specimen as an MS "X" until graded by a third-party, if I decide to go that route! I SMELL TREES and a firepit:beaver:!

Isn't the small date 1960 no mint the most valuable???

Yes. The Philly small date 1960 is the one you want.
    The condition is excellent.
Great coin. Not a proof, but so what? I have been looking for
this coin even in circulated condition and never found one.
Yes I could buy one, but that takes some of the fun out of it.

It's all about the hunt until you're broke then the hunt takes on a different meaning.

Looks like a large date to me.

CoinCorgi Tell your dog I said hi!

Looks like a small date to me. Meets all these diagnostics I think...
    • The inner loop of the 9 is much smaller on the small date.
    • The upper part of the 6 digit is straight up and down vertically with the outside of the loop on the large date. On the small date, the upper part of the 6 cuts short of being vertically even with the lower loop.
    • The zero is much smaller on the small date.
    • The top of the 1 and 9 digits are horizontally level on the small date. The 9 is taller than the 1 on large date coins.

There is no way that coin is worth enough to have third-party grading!

Frankly, I wouldn’t have it graded. But put it in a coin capsule. It’s a keeper.
