    Ardatirion Où est mon poisson

Finally got around to scanning this little beauty I picked up over the summer. I was at the table of a dealer who dealt mainly in US coins and asked if he had any British. He gave the usual "Maybe, look in this folder." I was expecting to find some Victorian pennies and maybe a few shillings. Then I see good old Charles II staring back at me! I asked how much, he said "$50" and I bought it instantly. (I find it rude to haggle an already good deal. :smile)

    1677 Half crown, Charles II.

2002 Spink puts a 1677 halfcrown at 60 pounds in Fine.

Is that a silver or brass coin...I know nothing of old english coinage but I wish I owned that.

Silver, of course. If it were brass it would have a more yellowish color, instead of the sort of battleship grey it currently has.
