As pointed out earlier, AU grades are all about wear and remaining luster, and I have a really hard time assessing the remaining luster on this coin, but I think it's a no question Au, so I'll WAG AU50

There’s much less luster than I thought. AU-50 max. But still undergraded imo.

no luster, so they may be correct.

But, still low I'd still go 45

It has flashy luster when you turn it in the light. But 40 is super low.

Enough luster for an AU, plus eye appeal. Send it in as a mechanical error on the grade and see what they say.

I agree with low grading on this coin. Did you ask Ed Wood?

Whoa. I can understand the wear, but I feel like some of it is cabinet friction. The luster is way too strong for a 40 IMO.

I’m with youse guys: minimum XF45 — plus a green bean.

Based on the True View, I would have guessed AU50. Based on your photos which show more rub, XF45.

Will this be going up on eBay?

After it goes to CAC, yes. Don't know why I'm sending it... a gold CAC would be like finding a T-Rex in the wild.

    Mighty nice for a 40!

A green bean might hurt its value if it doesn't go gold.

WOW!!! I heard they were tough these day's, but that is ridiculous! That should NOT be in a 40 holder. 50 is the lowest I could reasonably see that. It has rub for sure, it is far from being fully lustrous, but it does have a decent amount of luster and details. Sorry you got hosed.. :banghead:
