At my bank drive-up today, the teller asked me "Would you like one of those big dollars?" I said sure, and now am the owner of a 1972 Denver Ike, BU!!

yup, I found a Thailand coin in change (similar size as a nickel)
and its a long way from Thailand to Arizona.

recently Ive also found a very nice 1964 Cent, as well as a 1946 Nickel.

I walked into the Sunflower Market on 38th and Wolff, Denver and asked for dimes for
a pair of quarters in my pocket. I ended up with 1963D Silver - nothing great,
but one of my favourite coins to get in change is a silver dime. I haven't received
one of these since 1978. I must use my CC a lot. Cheers!

    *Warning Newb Question*

I see you guys talking about searching through rolls, are you just getting rolls from the banks and looking through them? If so, I need to try this, sounds like you all have found some good stuff.

Oh and the most interesting thing i have found in circulation is two Franklin half dollars I received as a tip when I was working at Kroger my senior year in high school (2003)

lol.... I actually get weird coins just about everyday. After I pick up my son from school, I stop by a quik stop "secret" and buy my son something to drink. I know the owner so he saves every not normal looking coin to him and gives them to me for face value exchange. The thing is that I've known him for many years now so he likes me very much. He tells me that people give him all this coins when they don't have money. The type of coins I get are silver dimes, war nickels, silver quarters, kennedy silver halves, benjamins, even a couple of silver dollars. I have tried to give him a little extra money for them but he just does not accept them I don't know why. On all those coins I have gotten from him, I have made about $700 in errors alone!

It's good to be friendly to the people you see everyday!:secret:

Could be one of mine lol... last year I bought the two roll set from the mint and spent the ones I didn't keep, as I do every year...

Keep your eye out for 2008's soon lol...

Up to you... if you can't find a collector who will pay more than face value, then face value is all their worth essentially. If they're worth more than face to you, then keep them, otherwise may as well spend them...

I love the reactions I get when I spend half dollars... you'd be amazed at how many people have never seen a half dollar, even those who weren't even born yet when they started minted the Kennedys. A lot of people ask if they're dollar coins.

Since the rolls of halves the Mint sells aren't handled in any special way a lot of them to get a few dings and scratches. Having a whole roll each usually guarantees I'll find at least one in each roll that is reasonably acceptable for my Kennedy set. The rest I'll just spend (maybe I'll keep a few extra if any look especially good)... I like to do my part to assure they circulate at least a little lol...

I got an interesting coin in Change at McDonalds yesterday. It is a 1999 25? from the Caymon Islands. It has Queen Elizabeth on the obverse and a sailboat and 25 on the reverse and is the size of a quarter. It's kind of a nice looking coin.

I found this 2006 D Colorado quarter in a roll I got from the bank. To be honest, it stood out in a roll of BU quarters... It has maybe 3 or 4 tiny marks on it...looks like a proof in hand.
