This penny the D in the date in under the five and almost touching. I look at several other 1953 D penny and the D is between the 9 &5. Your comments?
Oh yes.. Mint marks in 1953 were hand punched into the Die so their placement were not perfect at times.. It's normal.
Paddy is correct. Yours is one of the highest placements I ever seen. Certainly cool and interesting. No added value though.
I concur with the fact that Mint Marls were "Hand Punched" on coins before 1992 (approx). But I would not call the Mint Marl on your coin "Normal". I think that the Mint Marl on your coin is quite out of the ordinary. I agree with Randy in saying that is the Highest and Off-center Mint Marl I have ever seen. I would keep that one as a good example of a "Misplaced Mint Marl"
FYI Mint Marls = Mint Mark Silly Numismatists. FYI, you can fix your title by the "Thread Tools" just above to the right of your initial post.
well whatever it was, It was funny that you made an Error while telling someone they made an Error, And after all you are the "Error" guy. Thank cuz it made me laugh first thing this am. And my apologizes to Joeseph Eason for all these Non- Nusismatic post.
