    Im not sure what the experts have said, but i believe this could have happened when two un annealed dies were dropped on each other.

    That seems like much more of a reasonable answer. Still a die clash, just didn't happen in the striking process.

    It is not possible to drop dies on each other with enough force to transfer that much of an image. There would have to have been some significant force applied.
