    I came across this quarter, at first I thought it was burned then looked closed and see a shadow or outlined around the face,the back is also odd,help please

    It looks to me like someone took a colorized state quarter and tried to take off the colorization.

    It had a sticker, tape, or decal on it that reacted with the coin.
