    hello to all my people can there be a 1970 d nickel strike on a silver planchet I have a 1970 d nickel I put it next to two silver nickels and they are the same color as to a silver planchet what is the weight of a silver planchet. thanks for any help

    No. All nickels weigh the same. 5.0 grams.
    Shield nickels 5.0 grams
    V nickels 5.0 grams
    Buffalo nickels 5.0 grams
    Jefferson nickels 5.0 grams
    35% silver war nickels 5.0 grams

    It ain’t silver boss. I’m guessing environmental damage made it look similar to a War Nickel.
