Just curious to the value. I want to make sure I didn't pay to much.

I'm really not good at grading these Joy, but it appears it's going to be a split grade. Different from obverse to reverse, so I'll let someone with more knowledge on these give you a net grade and then I can look up the value for you if they do not.

Nice large cent. Probably worth around $30. A great piece of American history.

In VG I might lean more towards $20-$25.
The obverse is very smooth and worn. Reverse color shows evidence of cleaning,
which would bring the price down more.

Wow so between $20-$30. That is still a awesome premium price.

I am not sure. But there are a few things on the reverse that looks cleaned to me.
You see where those shiny spots come through, and a different color?
In this grade of coin, that's not luster, the outer metal may have been scrubbed away. The obverse looks a little "clean" too.
But I don't have the coin in hand, it's just my opinion from the photos.

Many old copper and silver coins have been cleaned many years ago, before it was known to be a source of damage to the patina/ surface metal.

Ok on the coin talk forum someone said this coin is N-14 or R-4+ variety does that help any. I know I'm a newbie so I'm clueless what that means he said mine was one of the scarce variety I did find a website about Newcomb coins but can't find a picture so I'm still lost. Sorry

You need a specialist for that, but that could raise the value.
