Kazakhstan BiMetalic Space Coin

Here is one of my impulse purchases. Please believe me when I tell you that the camera cannot capture the real beauty of the coin. Metals are Silver and Titanium. Pictures were taken with the coin at an angle and in the plastic holder.

The face in the sun reminds me of the face on the Indian Sunshine Rupee!!! Looks sort of anacronistic in a space themed coin. Interesting coin

Sorry, it's tantalum, not titanium as you thought. The Kazakh mint has made history by striking the first coin in tantalum. It's only second to the hardest metal known other than tungstun so how that is done is a feat. Mintage isn't that high either - it's at a mere 4000. I'm hoping to hoard a few more.

This country has coined very cute ones. I bought some recently. For example, have a look at the second one on the right, "The First Space Satellite of the Earth 2007".

Sometimes there are some countries that some people may not be able to locate in the map exactly at first time, that they have great coins. And they needn't be much expensive.
