Yes I might just do that if I ever wanted to start selling coins for a living/hobby. But if I ever did, I sure wouldn't - edited - about the prices they go for. What the hell don't you understand about this - it is clearly a huge inconsistency in logic. Get a clue.

Yet you still love to make money interacting with buyers of so called "over-priced" coins. This is clearly a huge inconsistency in logic. Get a clue. What is not clear about this?

If any of what you are saying makes sense to you, then you think differently than everyone else on this planet. I'm okay with disagreeing with your way of thinking.

I am no longer buying and selling US coins. I just have a few more coins to sell that I bought a couple months ago. I have only bought two more US coins in that time period. You are making accusations when you do not know the whole story. Get a clue.

Have you not read this thread? The OP (hmmm who would that be?) said (see post #1)...

I will probably be buying a US coin for my collection every once in a while that fits my collecting theme of telling a good story or having physical beauty. But those will be few and far between.

You might still see me wheeling and dealing, though.
    Is that a good clue?

By that, I am referring to next summer, when I will (begrudgingly) get back to buying/selling to help pay for my last semester of school. Then I am done for good. I have made several comments in other threads where I have said that I will not be flipping after school is finished.

And before you say “get a job”, the income from coins will be supplementary to any job income I get.

I was trying to end on a positive note saying that I would not completely abandon US coins, but that completely backfired. Now I really have no desire to go back.

Don’t get your blood in a bubble. No need to explain yourself. I feel you 100 man. I love US Coins regardless, but I just don’t ever expect to make money or break even when I drop money on Coins. Like I said. Ignore the BS and do you.

It seems like some people cannot get enough of millennial bashing. I said my piece to the OP because I disagreed with his stance, but I don’t see how we suddenly allow one person to represent an entire generation, or that one bout of frustration somehow means someone is a bad person. This “my generation is the last good generation” is a tired trope. Have any of you ever stopped to consider who the millennials are?

We are the generations that followed a long line of generations that took all the fish out of the ocean and replaced them with plastic, that put a hole in our ozone layer, that let the US be the largest polluters in the world’s history, that went from one parent being able to provide for the whole family to both having to work (changing the family dynamic), that allowed oil companies to ravage third world countries, that allowed corporations like Apple to squirrel billions of dollars outside of the US and avoid paying taxes, that implemented a failed social security policy and now wants our generation to bail them out, that supported decades of failed wars with foreign nations, that destroyed our rain forests and continue to make our lands inhospitable, that pay our teachers dirt wages and then lament at the lack of educational upbringing of those who follow, that has created a zero defect society where we are never better than our worst mistake and condemn everyone else despite their own skeletons, that didn’t grow up in an era where anyone has a video camera handy and can film your every action, that didn’t grow up in an era where nothing you do is secret, that didn’t grow up in an era where people can hide behind anonymous screen names and say anything they want without being held accountable, that openly mock our generation but then demand we “respect our elders”.

I made every effort to avoid the political realm, but spoilers: mistakes were made there too.

Pretending that the millennial generation is somehow the first rotten one is pure self-aggrandizement. The next time you want to go on a millennial bashing rant, don’t forget that we follow YOUR generations. We have become who we are because of what your generations were. If your generations don’t like what we’ve become, perhaps you ought to look in the mirror and ask “why don’t they want to be like us?” You ought to stop casting stones when you also live in a glass house.

P.S. this thread should’ve been locked when the word ingrates was used.

No need to "quit" any country's coins... a collector can just open his/her horizons to all coins (and maybe medals, if you like those). If interested in unique designs and varieties, Ancients and contemporary World Coins have all that you need.

This! This gets on my nerves, even though I understand that this is how some people enjoy the hobby. But I can't help but to get irritated when someone is only in this hobby for the thrill of flipping the next HOT US Mint product. :sour:

You're right.......I shouldn't have lumped the whole group of millennials into self serving, overly self absorbed individuals. They ain't got a 'lock' on that as every generation has their fair share of such folks. It's just that it is all the more evident today with social media the way it is.......instant occurrence. Sorry.....

Not really, many are much cheaper than they should be. Coins in terms of collectables are pretty cheap overall.

"Average decent type example" is a very subjective term. Some people struggle understanding how premium examples aren't average in most grades especially with the oldest series and I am not just talking about the highest grades.

It's been happening for thousands of years and will likely always happen as long as humans exist. It seems more prevalent now because of the internet, but some people just can't accept differences or change.

Certain generations have been more impressive overall such as the WW2 one, but grumpy elders isn't going away ever. That said the divide between some of them and younger generations should close in the future because the elders will have been used to the internet and social media ect. We just happen to be in a very divided period from huge technology changes.

I only clicked on this thread because I know and respect the OP and was curious. Sorry to see that there has been so much negativity.

I started with collecting US coins when I was a kid and still like many of them even though I've stopped actively collecting them. I find many of the US designs beautiful and interesting (especially the ones that reference classical themes). As my toll for posting in the moderns section I will post an example of a coin I find interesting, beautiful and reasonably priced. Weinman was a talented coin designer.

@TypeCoin971793 , I encourage you not to sell the ones you think you might regret. Once they are gone they're gone. Although, I can understand needing to fund the next semester... ah, Ramen noodle days. Seems like yesterday.

However, if the new US coin embargo means more of your posts on the dark side then I can say I am looking forward to it
