Ok i was given these two 1917 pennys . From a old guy that told me they were damage from th the mint.Thats all he would tell me . Not if the die blew up or why the damage happened anything about them . help or your thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks scott
Yes, both coins are damaged, but the damage occurred AFTER leaving the mint. Your coins are worth face value.
PMD - Post Mint Damage, after the mint distributed it. For some reason (think money) everyone wants to attribute all damage to the Mint. People never think of what can happen after the mint even though ppl may hammer and otherwise abuse coinage all the time.
