1897-O $1 XF or AU??

I'm inclined to say this is an XF even though the actual wear isn't there, but with an initial weak strike, I think an AU is almost impossible. Goes right from BU to XF..?? Whaddya think??

With the difference in price between the XF and AU for that coin, I'd be happy to find a coin like that for the XF price. I believe though, that its an Almost Uncircualted coin. AU50

After double checking PCGS guide and a few others, I definately would call it AU.

There is some light wear on the breast of the eagle but the wing tips show very little wear.

There is luster visible in the protected areas of the coin.

The coin was, as you pointed out, weakly struck. That is usual for this coin but would not be a detriment in assigning a grade for a circulated coin.

 

I also see it as AU. Very nice coin

 

Thanks for the comments. I'm very happy now. Check out the 1887/6 (?) $1 in errors. Is it really?
