hello I was wondering if sgs was a good grading companies? It seems the stuff they grade doesn’t go much on auction. I recently won an auction with 4 dimes.

    1965 ms70
    1998s pr70cam
    2006p ms70
    200p ms70

The 2006 looks horrible that’s what brings this up. There is no way is a ms70.

It wasn’t an eBay auction I got it from HiBid I have had a pretty good luck avoiding fakes until not I think

Sgs is not one of the top 4 graders.

You will never recoup your grading fees with SGS when and if the time comes to sell. They are also not recognized by Ebay so that would also be problematic if you wanted to sell them there. Stick with the top four. ANACS is the cheapest but I only use them for errors and varieties. Best resale comes from PCGS & NGC. Although you will pay dearly for their services. ICG is recognized by Ebay but the resale factor is next to nil. Most coins graded by them can be had fairly cheap compared to the others.

SGS has just one single grade, MS-70. Unlike a broken clock, they are not even right twice a day.

I have seen some really nice coins in these holders but the label is worthless.

SGS is considered to be one of the "basement" or "self" slabbers....basically it's just someone who takes raw coins, puts them in a holder, and adds a sticker that says MS 70. These should be treated as raw coins.

If you go to their website you will see the following message:

"This self grading service grades their own coins and operate under the name Abon Coins in Mansfield, OH and in 2014 was raided by the FBI for fraud."

Also it doesn't appear that they have a database for the coins they've graded.

I'd avoid SGS. Dealers don't like them.

They aren't one of the top 100 grading firms.
