What would it grade for? Looks alot better than any of my newer nickels. Tell me if it's a nice one or not.
Did you use different filters on the pics? It seems like each pic is a different coin is why I ask. I'll still go with EF-XF on it for the dings and circulation wear, especially to the hair and Monticello.
Don't use blankets to warm and coddle your coins. The fabric could scratch them. Plus, ever heard of "cold, hard cash" versus "warm, fuzzy cash"? Which would you prefer ? ... don't answer that ... LMAO
It is not a full step nickel so in order to be worth slabbing it would have to grade a minimum of MS-67. This coin won't make that grade.
Shrews, if you plucked that one out of circulation then I would say it was a nice pick. Hard to find coins that have been around 55 years that still look that sharp.... If this did come from circulation the absolute best it can be given is XF. Can’t make a circulated coin Uncirculated. Wish I looked that good at 55!
Remember that grading is based on "perfection of surfaces and letters, etc" Perfection defined as "perfect", not "pretty dinged up but still looks good" If you peruse this website https://www.pcgs.com/photograde/ of the Jefferson nickels page .. https://www.pcgs.com/photograde/#/Jefferson/Grades you can peruse each grade. Try to identify the "impefections" of each lesser grade, or if you start at the bottom of the next one up. You won't be able to at first, but you should be able to see the difference of multiple grades difference especially the wider the grading variance. Then you can start comparing your coin to one of the grades there. Don't forget to look at every scratch no matter how small. Think of it as you are buying a brand new car from the factory. Are you going to look for one that has no scratches, or it won't matter if it's scratched up a bit and pay the same for either one?
