What you have there is a "spooned" cent. Unfortunately I know them all too well. As a lad long before the days of constant internet gadgets to fill our young minds, we created our own distractions and spooning coins was one of them. You can sit for hours rapping the edge of a coin with a spoon and it draws up the edge. Do it long enough and drill out the center and you have yourself a ring...... Sorry, not an error.

Sorry Randy but this one isn't a spooned Cent.. It's a dryer Cent.
It was caught between the drum and the dryer wall and the spinning and heat distorted the appearance.. It's still damage though and Only worth 1 Cent

Did Myth Busters ever do a segment on "dryer coins"?

I don't think so, but they did put a cigarette lighter in a dryer,
and dropped a cent from a really tall building.

They wouldn't have enough time to create a Dryer Coin. It takes a lot of time :hilarious:

Once again I will share my story of what I witnessed with my own eyes..
When I was married to my first wife we lived in the Bronx. Across the street from us was an old laundromat where we washed our clothes at. One evening there were mechanics working on some busted dryers. The machines were opened up exposing the inside where lint, dust, dirt and old coins were found. I asked about the coins and they allowed me to look at them and keep them. Most were new with minor wear but 4 of the coins were Dryer Coins with the damage seen as the OP's Cent. It does happen. How? I don't really know. I lost the 4 coins a few years later due to my divorce.. But this is my story and I'm sticking to it! ;)
