Unbelievable I've never been treated in any business transaction ever! Like this transaction! I have fired staffers for less talking to a customer that way. Plus I've never said ever that I was an expert even in the field I have worked in the last 50 plus years. But to the members here who know me , and the dealers at the shows I work always say go ask Paddy he will find the correct answer ,show it to Paddy...he will know exactly what it is... and this goes on just about every show as long as I am walking the show floor.
Not at all. You paid for a service that you did not get. Sounds like you were talking to a low level putz. Now it' s time to up the ante. Call back again, get the reps name before you start the conversation and write it down. If the same conversation gets no results, ask to speak to their higher up. Mention what I said earlier about writing to Dave Harper, mention the Better Business Bureau. Mention the ANA which they are a member of. Put some serious but polite pressure on them. Never give up. No business has the right to treat you like this and I am pretty certain if you can circumvent this low life you will get some results.
Tommy I appreciate your tips and support, it's truly not worth the troubles for the amount of money involved. What is a shame is I've always supported Anacs ,and like the idea that I could get my coins attributed on the slab ,and more varieties then the other 2 TPG's. I guess for the most part I am in shock..... again for more than one reason. And again I'm no expert...but I'm no dummy! And to be told several times "we're done'' just sez a wall is up ...I don't care about your concerns... and I don't appreciate your business! So Buyer beware....
The op said he called and still had no satisfaction. Even though it costs more in time and shipping it will be worth it to get it right.
I would go with Ya @Evan8 I have never had a coin graded but if this whole shenanigan is going on I am with Ya! Less than an hour myself. I wonder what @Insider opinion is on this one. I'd be a little P'oed myself.
I've given up on the TPG. I find it's just easier to buy the coin already certified. I understand it's difficult with errors/variety coins, there are other avenues. or you can also self slab as needed. I really don't think by sending DC items off to be graded adds much value to the item. That is unless you get lucky and get a 70.
When the coin are returned I plan to image the varieties and post them here. My scope isn't working at present,I do have access to another. So this will be an easy task to prove my point. Then I will give the references used to prove that the attributions are correct. At this point it isn't about the money as it about how I was treated durring the entire process. Having work a good number of years in retail food, and dealing first hand daily with customer service, I can assure you the customer isn't always right. However they are entitled to be heard ,and respect. That was not given in this case and to me at this point is more the issue then being right or wrong on a variety attribution. Any doubts thought just do a search on the threads here on 1938 D/D or D/S buffalos. I'm quite sure what you'll find is enough data that supports my knowlege on the subject. Again you get what you pay for.....when is a deal not a deal? When you're treated the way Anacs spoke to me. "We're done" correct we are!
And there's one other point I would like to address ,and that is my choice of words used in the title here.. by no means do I advocate any violence towards anyone. Nor do I wish to insight such...by no means! I was disappointed to say the least, and after my attemp to solve the issues they just shut me down. That said... This is truly he said / they said...situation . You can believe whom ever you wish by the facts known. Those members who do know me on a personal level know me as well as my back ground. Those who don't well there's always an open door for dialog. My main reason for this thread was to share my experience with a well known company. A company who at one time I held in high regards.....well no longer. It is now you'r decision or choice if you after reading this thread wish to do business with them. Lastly you only get what you pay for, you may be better off asking a member here who does business with PCGS,or NGC to piggy back on one of their submissions. I believe in the long run you'll have less stress, and better results.
Just so ya know Paddy I am a non violent man. There are other ways of handling things. So, everyone knows It was just a joke. I have been sending some folks there lately for questionable authenticity coins. I hope they have things in order so that I don't look like a fool.
The only time I submit coins to Anacs, is at the local show here in Michigan . Then I can go through my coins with them . I've never had a issue with them this way .
@Paddy54 sounds messy. Honestly, I think sometimes people want to make waves before even knowing what the boat looks like that they’re standing in. I would have waited for the coins to arrive before making any decisions. You had already mentioned them being in the mail. I’m curious what they received (or didn’t) for varieties.
As I said before, wait until the coins are returned, then deal with the problem. Any anger you have would have subsided a bit so you would be calmer in your Anacs discussions. You can always file a complaint with the BBB.
@Paddy54, what it sounded like to me is that they connected you to the person that was responsible for making the mistake. It was easier for him to tell you that were finished then to own up to his mistakes. I would call back and ask to talk to the manager or the owner. The phone call seemed weird that he wanted to get rid of a good customer. I think he did not do his job , and does not want his boss to find out he screwed up. Just a thought. Sorry you had to deal with crap, nothing worse . I would call the upper management and they may surprise you . Dillan
"Love" seems like a bit too strong of a word. "Begrudgingly tolerate and contribute money to" is a bit more like it.
I only say ANACS because they are local to me. And those interested can walk the coins into the building themselves.
I knew exactly what the boat looked like....it looked like an empty scowl ! Empty because I paid for 4 coins to be attributed to the variety they are... That said if anyone you should know my liking for the 38 D buffalo , do you think if I handed you an 38 D/D or D /S buffalo nickel you could determine in fact it was a omm or an RPM ? There are 9 RPM's and 5 omm's varieties for the 38 D. You would just about need be blind not to see that there is either an rpm or omm. What else is strange ask @C-B-D how many times over the years I have pm him and told him that a coin was indeed a variety.....and telling hi. There's more meat on that bone! And there has been other members here whom either pm me or I have private messages and told them that again there's more meat on that bone. I also stated that an" unknown person" ,male told me that they would be sending the reason why they were "not attributed ", yet while looking at this information on his computer screen, refused to tell me! But did his best to try and get me to loose my cool. His statement repeated several times was "I like to help you,but we're done here..." How would you reply to an individual who would not give you the information you paid for? How would you handle a person who deliberately kept saying" we are done here!" When in fact he offered no resolve. Just kept repeating we are done! And I checked USPS track the coins still haven't entered the system. Their site was checked and of the 4 out of 10 coins that were paid to be graded and attributed were all rejected for variety.
