In your opinion did this coin look like this when PCGS slabbed it?

I'm of course talking about the green "stuff" on the reverse.
Would PCGS slab this coin as it exists now?

Also I'm trying to decide what to do with it.

    I've got a couple choices.
    -- Live with it.
-- Let NCS do its thing (if they will even touch the coin.)
-- Sell it off and replace it with a better coin.

    I wasn't the original submitter.
And if they were to only refund the catalog value of the coin when it was slabbed, I strongly suspect I'd lose on the deal.

(I know. Why did I buy it in the first place. Too long ago to remember. And I was probably not as coin savvy then.)

they should reimburse you the value they claim in the pcgs price guide

No spock, that isn't how it works. They will however either replace the coin for one of the same grade or pay the owner the difference in current market value and this coin.

And kanga, you don't have to be the original submitter. Just the current owner.

Bummer, but a good learning tool for the rest of us, keep us posted please?
Sorry to see that happen to you.

Okay, just took the first step.
Called PCGS and found out what to do.
Return the coin in the slab and mark it as a "downgrade".
If they agree they will either:
-- give me current market value for the original grade, or
-- give me the difference between current market value for the original grade and what I paid for it.

Since I don't consider the coin collectable anymore, I'll take the current market value for the original grade.

This may take some time, but I'll try and keep you informed.

I am willing to bet that it is their choice and not yours. I will guarantee that it will be done by their definitions.

Is that PVC ? It looks like light corrosion...

Another possibility would be for PCGS (not NCS) to remove the PVC.
