OK, going through $2 bills this week because my half dollar order didn't come in. I came across these three minor misaligned overprints. I'm definitely keeping the last one, but I can't decide on the other two. I think that due to the condition, I may toss them back. Since I still haven't made up my mind, I figured I would post a pic and see what you guys think.
that last one is neat! the first one is also pretty cool. I'd say the middle one is the one to toss back. Maybe pay for something with it
I think I'll keep all three, but the Atlanta one is the only one I'll actually put in with my error notes.
Easy to understand due to the greater offset...nice choice...but I stiill like the other two as well. RickieB
According to this mail auction http://www.jimscoins.com/downloads/Auction_25.pdf the first note in my pic is apparently worth a premium. Look at item number 79. They have a pic of it shown in the auction. Be warned, the pdf is a few MB in size.
that is cool. although it doesnt say anythign about just how far the shift is, or the condition of the note. It would be an AWSOME circulation find if it is worth a premium over the face I went to a bank today to buy $200 in $2 notes. Apparently the bank can never get rid of what they do get, so they never order any sound familiar? the teller did tell me they had $238 worth of $2 in the bank, but they are all in the hands of 1 teller, and she was off until the afternoon. So i got $200 in singles instead. I am going to try to get back to get them $2's though. With all the action i have seenm all you guys posting about them $2 LTN's... i figured i had to try
Item 79 has a pic on page 15 Description: 1976 $2 FRN, SEALS & NUMBERS SHIFTED UP EF MB $42.00 The amount of shift looks identical to my first note pictured.
sorry gatzdon, was not sure if the EF was for grade. What is the MB stand for? Also, when i opened the PDF, nothign was clickable, so i was not able to view a pic. ok, never mind, the pics are at the end it does look exactly like yours! But i thing that comes to mind: he has it for sale at that price, but will it sell? It would be a cool find if it does!!! still cool find either way, but hey- itstant premium over face is even better
MB = Minimum Bid. The guy who runs this auction Jim's Coins in Madison www.jimscoins.com posts a "Realized Prices" list after everything from the auction has been settled. This is the same guy I sold all my error washington dollars to. While the owner seems very knowledgable, they do accept items for the auction on consignment, so I don't know who set the minimum bid and I'll have to wait until they post the realized prices list to see what they got for it. I'm also curious about what item 82 (shown on page 13) sells for. The shift is slightly more dramatic, but not by much.
if you could post back here when the realized prices are posted, i really doubt i willremember lol I went back to the bank yesterday after work, and picked up the $238 in $2, the teller was so dang excited to be rid of them So i go home, and when i started going through them, somehting like the 4th or 5th note was a red seal It was in real bad shape. to the point i was very surprised it wasnt pulled for the mutilated pile. Anyhoot, i cant scan pictures, i am picking my scanner up tongiht (dang thing better be fixed this time!!!) the note is a 1928F i belive it was. All four corners had the corners missing, it looks like someone might have had the note in an album, and when they removed it all 4 corners tore off. The note is in VERY circulated condition. The rest of the pile had about 15 or so 1995's, and 1 2003A, all the rest were 1976. I pulled some that were crisp, and i got almost a full set of the 1976 (not all were crisp!). no $2 star notes, but i got the LTN so it was all good
it didnt matter to me the date, although a 1928 was cool! but i was juts excited to get a red seal at all!!! on a side note, i turned them in to one of my 'sell to' banks.. MAN you should have seen the look on her face!!! roflmao!!!
