    AV 4000 Reis 1819-B (Bahia Mint) MS-64
    King Joao VI 0f Portugal

    This coin is very rarely seen from Bahia Mint/ most where struck at Rio. I only got the notice this morning, so it was a nice surprise heading off to work:happy: 4350620l (1).jpg

    physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

    Where are these 6-petaled flowers?

    Why are Bahia mint coins so much rarer?

    Looks extremely nice, congrats!

    Thanks!
    In 1819, 4000 Reis coins where struck in Rio and Bahia Mints. That year 49,000 were produced at both mints/ only 1500 at Bahia. So cosidering that Portugal would loose Brazil in 1821, not many survived. Hopefully when this coin arrives, according to Krause, there are four petalled flowers!

    The Bahia mint is KM#327.3 with a mintage of 1,864 with UNC- $2,500 BU- $ ?

    The Rio mint is KM#327.1 with a mintage of 49,000 with UNS-$700.00 BU-$ ?

    this coming from my 2004 Krause world coin catalog.
    I can tell it is not the KM#327.2 because that has 4-petal flowers.
    How can you tell the difference between Bahia mint and Rio mint both have no mint mark ???
    awesome coin by the way.:cool::cat::cat::cat:

    I think it is the rosettes on either side of 1819....

    Friedberg 2018 edition/ places the 1819-B at 25,000! in UNC. 9K in EF?????
