I have +5,000 circulated wheat cents that I am trying to figure out how to sell. Not worried about getting every extra penny but wanting to know how I should sell. (pun intended)
I don't buy or sell coins online.
That either means LCS or fellow collector but that is beside the point

    Which options is best?
    Rolls of wheats
sell the entire bulk stock for a set price
sell earlier dates (pre 1925) individually

    opinions requested.

Given what the shipping cost would be, you’ll have to find someone relatively close who’s interested.

Roll them and sell them on ebay as "UNSEARCHED"

Good question but, it depends on if these are just average circulated for the most part with dirty and /or damaged coins also or are they for the most part pretty clean. I can get a bag of 5K for $199.00 from a fellow in R.I. but they are just average with damaged mixed in. Then there's shipping coats to factor in. If just average then I would sell as a lot, unrolled, well packaged and via Priority rate shipping and be done with them quickly. But that's just me, you have to decide what's best for you.

I would try to cater to your seller. Since you are asking them to buy, instead of listing them for sale, find out what they want/are looking for. If they want rolls by decade, then roll it by decade, if they want a bulk bag then make a bulk bag.

I kind of know your situation and what you are facing. Choosing a selling venue is going to be difficult and please bring your parents into this. For you, Craigslist might not be a bad idea. Roll the cents in standard 50 coin rolls and come up with a price you can live with. Advertise them as a "slice of history" or a "blast from the past" and see if you get any action. Offer single rolls or multiples. Only meet at a bank or police station and good luck!

I gave my wheat cents to the YN program at our local coin club.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

You asked us the best way to sell these coins, but you rule out the best ways to sell these coins. The best way to sell these coins is to break them into lots of 200 or 250, list them on Ebay, and they will sell. If you didn't want to put in the time, you could just put the whole lot of 5000 up at once, but you'll tend to get less per coin that way.

Very few coin shops will be interested in your hoard of (probably searched, probably average grade, and probably mostly late date) cents. They tend to get tons of this sort of stuff when they buy a whole estate - they have to take the bags of wheaties to get the good stuff, and then they are stuck with it.

Your other alternative is to put a listing here on the marketplace. Someone may be interested, but you'll have to have an attractive price.

Are you having a garage sale? $1.00 a roll and they're gone.

If you have the patience, I would roll them by decade. Sell the 40's at $10/roll; 50's at $5/roll, 60's at $3/roll, and the 70's and early 80's at $2.50/roll. You can get the rolls free from the bank and do the work while watching TV.

The time and effort you put in will determine how much you make. Craigslist can be tough but you never know, you might be able to get rid of it all at once. Tell the guy there could be some choice coins in there and he might give you a fair price.

If I can get those prices in New York then I could make money rolling mine and driving up to a flea market on the weekend. I can buy all "S" rolls for $2.50 per roll, less if I but 10 plus rolls.

You will need to find buyers at a flea market; pay for gas, tolls, flea market fees, etc., and waste your day in the hive of the unwanted. Other than that, I would go for it.
