Do you think that this 1893 Isabella quarter will grade, given the hit on the reverse under "BOARD"? It definitely looks like a gouge but I'm unsure if it will warrant a Details grade.

    Thanks in advance!

Looks like cleaning is a bigger issue than the hit.

The grayness of this coin concerns me and may be a sign of heavy cleaning.

I don't think this coin would details because of the hit, but because of the cleaning.

The hit isn’t even that bad at all. Maybe a slight technical downgrade at worst.

I can't tell from these photos if the coin is naturally toned and it's just a bad angle/lighting, or if it's been cleaned and retoned. As others have said the hit is not too big a deal.

I'm not sure if that's cleaning or just toning. I have seen many of these with dark toning.

I would be concerned that it would come back details for environmental damage.

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

The hairlines on the reverse indicate cleaning to me, and that is just one of the three problems. I'm not sure I'd submit that one expecting a straight grade.

Seeing the coin in person, it's most definitely a cleaning job. The hit isn't too severe as the picture denotes. But yeah, no underlying luster, but a sheen that's a signature cleaning job.
