1964 nickel no mint.

It's good you're here hoping to learn, so welcome to the forum. However, perhaps you could be so kind as to enlighten us as to exactly what this "error list" is and where you found it?

It was on you tube. Learned a lesson there right. I like this new hobby and I'm just searching every avenue of information. I also seen in coin talk where a guy said there was one he had a pictire picture posted of the nickel.

Yea I was kind of Leary of some if the info on their. I've turned to this website more and more. It's uncomfortable not having knowledge like a lot of yall. I want to learn do I guess a few suggestions want be so dumb down the road. Thank u for your help.

I carry $1 and $5 bills with me to make small purchases everywhere...Post Office, Grocery Store, Recycling Center... this gets me coinage in my change from those transactions.

I once asked the proprietor of an antique store if I could look through his leave-a-penny-take-a-penny tray. I was careful not to take all of his coins as he was using these in daily transactions, and only pennies in the tray. The tray held several hundred coins, I found a few wheats from pulling about a hundred out.

Getting friends and relations to snag coins for you is another great source for coins. I had one friend take a cruise to the UK and they talked the local cruise agent out of all of her change in her purse, including some Russian coinage that they, the Russians, do not export (or, so I was told).

The big thing is to not overwhelm yourself and to learn. Take your time to read about what you want in your collection. By all means, go to doubleddie.com and read about "Worthless doubling" and the section on "How dies are made". It will take you lightyears ahead in the hobby.

Wow. That's two one thread. What are the chances of that?

 

Has anyone ever seen a 1964 nickel that has a inner circle cutting through the words "five cents"

 

It's caused by the machine that crimps the ends of a coin rolls. Sometimes they are not adjusted correctly and cut into the coin. It's considered damage

 

Is it worth getting it looked at , and I thank you for your reply
