    PMD - Post Mint Damage
    Not a Mint Error

Circulation wear and tear and road rash.

In the future Keep your title nice and short. Ask all your questions on your first post.

    worth? 25 cents

Why do you think about how it got to the way it is?
Can you provide your detailed analysis on it ?

Well thanks for your response but if you enlarge the photos that you will see that the road rash as you call it was done before the silver plating was applied and the rim on the back side was done by the mint so thank you for you time and thoughts

Yes I've seen this before. It's called PMD. Please take this to your local coin shop for verification. The dealer will be more than willing to give you its value.

Wrong.. I have been collecting Mint Errors for 32 years. Your assessment is incorrect. That's the normal clad later that is damaged after it left the Mint

Sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree with this for many reasons.

Silver plating? Do you mean the clad plating? Which part of the coin are you talking about? All I see are scrapes and dents from regular circulation.

It is PMD, pure and simple. It actually looks like someone took a grinding wheel to it. My other hobby is rockhounding, and I have lapidary wheels that will do exactly the damage you are seeing.

PMD, post mint damage. Not an error.

Take it to a local dealer if you aren't convinced.

I see you are a new member, perhaps not a lot of experience...take a deep breath...we all wish to find something special that might have been made by the Mint. But sorry, this is not it and the others are correct. We see these all the time and really do know what the Mint is capable of making and what they are not.

Welcome to CT. If you ask questions here, you will get answers. Not always the answers you want, and you are welcome to disagree, but lots of people on here have been collecting for a long time and have seen a lot. You are always encouraged to take your coins to a local dealer for an in-hand evaluation. Please let us know what you find out.
