    Hello everyone,

I was at a show yesterday and picked up a 1899O Morgan PCGS MS-64. Once I got home and took a closer look I found the doubling on the date and checked VAMWorld and verified it was VAM-12.

I can't locate any pricing for this coin and was hoping for some help. I see also that PCGS had only attributed one of this VAM in F12 and does not list a value.

Any help is greatly appreciated .

Unfortunately your coin won't have really any premium over the market value of the MS-64 grade. The VAM-12 is not a "List" VAM and will not be attributed by PCGS or NGC on the label. ANACS if I recall will attribute all VAM's and annotate it on the label. PCGS and NGC will only attribute the "List" VAM's.

Typically and I say this, because there are exceptions, usually only "List" VAM's carry a premium. This is because of increased interest or they are tough to find. "List" VAM's are the Top 100, Hot 50, Hit List 40 and Kimpton 12. Some non "List" VAM's that carry a significant premium such as the 1898-O VAM-20 carry the premium because of how rare they are.

If you look it up on www.vamworld.com, you will see it is listed as an R-4, which is pretty good, but the interest in the error is only an I-2, which means it doesn't have a lot of people looking for it. The VAMS that bring the big bucks are the super rare or super extravagant, like the 'Scarface', 'Hotlips', 21's covered in die cracks, etc.
