    Hello everyone,

I came across this coin while coin roll hunting and was hoping for some opinions on it. In the pictures that are attached I have the con in question on the right and a regular nickel on the left for comparison.

I have weighed the coin at it comes in at 4.97 grams.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking it's been gold plated

    Yes.

Pretty sure it is discolored due to prolonged exposure to the outside environment and/or a contaminant. I do not think it was plated.

some contaminants can be as simple as coca cola (how many ppl put coins in their cup holders and spill sodas in them from time to time ??)

or even a caustic cola spilled on nickels and cents and left for a while.
or a more acidic "bath", and stuff like that.

This one had a zinc cent stuck to it (you can see the outline).
