Hello, I'm currently collecting Peace dollar and this is my first MS coin and I will only collect Brilliant Uncirculated coins. Share your amazing collection pride and joy with everyone. Thank you and Happy Collecting. Robert
Very doable set. Some in MS are a bit pricey, but with patience nice AUs can be found that won't look out of place.
I don't have many Peace dollars...here is my favorite - a 1922-S. The black lines on the back are so cool looking. I've seen a few Peace dollars with it. My mom gave it to me when I started collecting coins as a kid. Here is a 1964-D Peace dollar. It's a Chinese counterfeit (I wish is was Dan Carr coin, lol). Since I currently don't have any BU peace dollars, thought I would share a BU 1883 Morgan dollar I have. It was my first Morgan dollar, given to me by my Grandpa on my birthday about a week before he passed away. Sad, I got something really cool, but lost something really cool as well. This coin always has had a special place in my collection. Sorry if this is too long or has too many coins. I like to show mine off.
Alot of fake Chinese peace dollars out there. Make sure you weigh them, measure them with calipers, and visually inspect them well. Ive been burnt. Lesson learned. Very nice coin you have too. Good luck with the collection!
Sorry I can't do pictures of my Peace Dollars. I have 2 missing in my PCGS MS-64 plus set, both common dates and I have 2 complete sets, one in F/XF and VG. Almost have a third circulated set but not really looking for them. I love the Peace Dollars. You're off to a fine start. That's a great looking 1922 but I'll warn you, a couple of them are pricy. Wish I could afford a 1922 High Relief. Only 35,000 and they are 5 figure coins. I only have a few varieties as I'm not a variety collector.
You just said that you are on your 3rd set?. Man that is crazy. I will only buy that is a good value. I dont mine having 10 of a particular year as long as they provide decent value. Im happy and content now that I can still afford some coins. Once they get over $50 per coin, that is not a value to me anymore and I will pass. Happy collecting
A couple of my Peace dollars did that to me. I had them in those old PVC soft flips, and rubber banded together. The rubber bands pressing against the PVC caused the black lines.
I'm not expecting ro finish this set at all. Some certain key date are just overprice. I am only acquiring certain BU uncirculated that are still affordable. I can live without it overprice coins.
You can get gorgeous Walking Halves from the 1940s (1940-1947 short set) in your price range. One of my favorite types.
I wouldn't go crazy with this series at this time. Many of the high grade ones have been plunging in value for many, many months; hasn't bottomed out yet.
