    I found this in a family change jar yesterday. A 1935 U.K. 3-Pence. 50% silver!

NICE!!!! Always worth a find, such a change jar!
I also have a big bottle of german "Asbach Uralt" 3 Liters. It's full of change, but it would be too bad to break it. But everyday I am curious, what's inside - since my family is collecting their change in there for over 30 years once in a while... maybe one day :nailbiting:

Throw a few nice ones in there now, so in a few years, they'll be forgotten about and "discovered" down the road, when it is finally opened.

How did that get in the change jar?

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

I would assume through the hole in the top. This is the typical method of getting things into and out of a jar. ;)

The grandparents traveled to Europe a lot back in the day. There were several common European coins (pre-Euro) in the jar, I assume they were "souvenirs" (leftover pocket change) brought back from their trips. How the old 1935 coin got in there, I have no idea.

    LOL, quite right!

Jars have lids, thus blocking the hole. ;)

Thats true... I also leave my "leftovers" from travelling in there - KUNA from croatia were the last changes I threw in there. Who knows - one day the EURO will take over the croatian currency as well and I have some memories to hold in hands...
