1878 Seated Liberty Quarter - thoughts?

    This 1878 Seated Liberty quarter is being sold for $80, in VF-EF. I really like it, but I notice some hairline scratches on the obverse, and wonder if those would be an issue should I want to have it slabbed at some point. Does it seem to have been cleaned?

    In hand they are not obvious, but when I took the pics I could see them. Only in the date area. It won't straight grade IMO.

    Ah. I kind of thought so, but the part of me that wanted the coin felt like it was worth getting other opinions. Thanks for your input.

    I understand. I was just explaining why I posted to get other opinions -- I certainly hadn't expected to hear from the owner, which is great.
