    Hello everybody,
i would be very interested in your opinions about the condtion and grade of this 1870 CC dollar. It comes from a B&M sale 1987. Nice colour and appearance, with somewhat reflective surfaces on the reverse. I remember this was described, among other comments, as ...."nice Carson City dollar, for the collector on a budget......" (or something to that effect). You can imagine what the other coins offered in that sale where like.
    Thank you all,
    Eduard

It looks EF to me. A tad too much wear on Liberty for AU. VERY nice Seated Lib dollar. And a CC to boot.

I've got to start hanging around with you. You seem to find some amazing coins.

    Eduard,

Truly another beautiful coin you have and a tough one to find in higher grades! Thanks for sharing!

I believe that it will Net grade an EF-45!

This is very tough for me to grade, not being a particularly good grader. I'm tempted to say VF for the obverse and EF for the reverse. There is quite a bit of weakness in the LIBERTY, offset by quite a bit of luster left in the protected areas for a VF. So I don't know what a professional grader would say, but it's a nice coin.

    AU 53 is my grade.
A bit whiter than my taste, but what a cool coin with the sexy CC mintmark.
Excellent coin and thanks for sharing!!!

Wow that is a quite a spread of grades of grades: VF to AU!
Looking at the coin closely, the reverse is really nice with luster, the obverse with still a little luster, but with the bottom part of E and R in LIBERTY quite weak. I don't remember that well, but i believe B&M graded this VF35, close to EF. That was about 21 years ago.
I really "had to have a CC coin" and this is one i found that fit my budget. I also have a 1872 CC quarter which i will post soon, because that one i just cannot grade well. Those are the two CC's i have.
Once again, thank you very much for your opinions and comments. Wish you all a good weekend.
    Eduard
