Hi All Another find - From my research I believe this is a 1917-1924 Quarter, but is there a way to get the date closer? Thank you so much!
Actually in this photo the faint outline of a 2 is visable (couldnt see that in person ) So I think its 1920s, so it must be a 20,23, or 24
I used to pick stuff like this out of the change when I was a kid..........it was maddening to me that the date was totally rubbed off, yet the mint mark remained. Oh how I lamented.
Actually that might be a 3, not a 4. The point is similar. I’ll do some photoshop overlays to try and figure this out
If it makes you feel any better Tyler I found a few dateless type 1s in my youth. This was before the internet and before I knew about die pairings and diagnostics. I remember thinking I could have a 1916 in my hand but it was worthless. Of course the odds were very remote.
16 and 17 Type 1s don't have the 3 stars under the flying eagle. https://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/quarters/standing-liberty/
It was in my brothers bulk silver bag so no loss - Just thought it would be a cool "find" since all I could decipher was the mint mark
I’m seeing 24 as well. But again, not my series or denom. Tyler, have you examined it in-hand with 5x, 10x, and then 16 or 20x magnification?
