Make sure your speakers are on. 9-11 Sounds of Silence Tribute by Steve A. (Disturbed) https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=3iy2L9VeUfc Where were you. I was in Conway, NH
I was at the desktop, with CNN on the TV when a news flash came in that a plane had struck one of the Twin Towers. CNN went to a video feed of the burning building.........suddenly an aircraft struck the second tower...........I could hardly believe what I was witnessing.
On the walls of this house there hangs some special art work..... a Picasso, two Erte's to name a few....this one hangs so all who enters this home, and the two of us whom live here never forgets!
I wasnt alive but my age class is the last year going through High School that some were alive during 9/11. Sorta significant
I'm totally not doubting what your saying but its surprising how many people say they had the news on when it happened. Was it more common to watch the news back when than it is today?
In DC visiting a friend from college who worked at the Pentagon. Luckily, as it turned out because while she was playing hookie her office was destroyed.
It was a morning attack! Those in central and mountain time zones were just getting up out of bed. That said.....yeah people were watching the morning news. Here on the East cost were getting news by mouth depending on where they were. Communications were sezied no cell phones worked....first due to over usage then over taken by the government. A woman I worked with husband called her at the store. The couple were going through a nasty divorce. He worked at NSA here in Maryland. He called her to say good by.... even though they were fighting like cats and dogs, they had been married for 15 plus years. He told her he was going up on the roof of one of the buildings. They had set up a 50 cal machine gun to try and knock out the missing plane that did finally go down in Pa. No one knew its target.....so all bases were on high alert. She turned to me face red tears flowing and told me what he had said.. I said her name and reminded her that last week she wanted to kill him due to how nasty their divorce was going.... her reply right I did, and I reserved that right to do so...not some SOB terrorists . Living where I do there is military bases all around me.. It was like you took a stick to a bees nest.... fighters planes took control of the skies.....in fact I live 4 miles from a international airport. So hearing air traffic is always in the air...Except now nothing flying except fighters planes. The main gate at the USNA a place I could walk on and off base anytime I pleased now sandbagged Marines in the nest maning a 50 cal. Locked and loaded . And to think there was a day I walk accross base to get to my favorite bar for a beer..NO MORE NEVER AGAIN.....
Why is that so unusual to you? I used to have the news stations on all of the time........I've presently fallen back a bit, but I still tune in.
Like its unusual because a lot of teachers will say they had the news on during class and such like that.
I was watching CNN as well. That was my normal. When the second plane came in, I didn't believe what I was seeing. It changed the world.
I was listening to AM radio while working on a school near the airport in Richmond, VA. It was really weird not hearing planes taking off and landing. We did hear fighter jets taking off after a little bit. Didn’t see video until I got home that night.
I think so, yes. What also is common as many Americans fall asleep with the TVs on at night. Whether they fall asleep in their bedroom or someplace else, I think that's why a lot of people were watching the news that day. I know I fell asleep with the TV on and woke up bright and early to one of the Twin Towers already being on fire. That was the first thing I saw when I woke up that morning.
It certainly did. Now we have done away with illegal search and seizure compliments of the Patriot Act. Don't think they ever found the one that supposedly crashed in PA either, did they?
