I have a big, blue, ugly and used Schwab that I got from my locksmith. Actually traded a few other safes for it and he delivered it as part of the trade.

I got to know him when I was in retail and knowing a good locksmith can be a good thing. I've referred customers to him and he appreciates that.

I don't care that my safe is ugly or was used. It's very functional and was cheap. Not like I show it off to people. Finally convinced a friend to try him after he'd been shopping at all of the "big" companies. When he realized he could get the same quality safe at half the price and cheaper delivery he bought two. One for his home and one for his business.

Like I said, knowing a good locksmith can be a good thing.

I like that people know I collect, it increases the chance that htey will set stuff aside for me. But no one knows the extent of my collection. As mentioned by others, if I show my collection to someone, what I show is highly dependent on the person I'm showing it to. I keep everything in two old, old, old, railroad safes. It would take at least an F250 to take one of them and even then, a lift gate would be impractical. Chances are, even if someone comes prepared, they won't be able to take both. They probably won't even get one as I have them pretty well obstructed and just getting them out of the house would be a feat (I can't wait for day we move to a new house, NOT).

Most people (and this is true for the most part) believe that my collection consists only of items I've pulled out of circulation and that the most valuable thing I have is the $1000 bag of 40%Ag Kennedies I'm working on. When it's full, I sell it, therefore, whereever I am in the bag, is about the most anyone could expect to extract out of me (and maybe some old bills that are probably not worth much more than face value).

The place I want to buy a safe from offers free delivery, but only to curbside. Has anyone had experience with hiring movers to move a safe from the curbside to inside the house? Any idea how much it would cost?

A contractor I know says that a couple of $50 bills to the delivery guys will get the safe from the curbside to the inside of the house, but you never know and I'd hate to have it sitting outside with no one to help move it.

I dont think I said this already, but I dont even have safe. lol
I keep mine in a box... on my dresser. lol

but then again, if someone stole it, they might get a few hundred out of it.

However, when Im not home, and Im at school (university) I put my coins away.
