"Di valore inestimabile" The 27 coins that were analyzed so far are from the 5th century and in excellent condition. I will stay tuned, I would like to know the time span covered by the hoard after all the coins are investigated.
Amazing! I would say that I want to see those things when they get all cleaned up, but they appear to be in perfect condition! Can't wait to see who's portraits are on them
Seems like a few hundred Solidii, at about 4.5 grams ea of nearly pure gold(about $170)x 300 coins?. After they are all melted down , the gold will sell for $50,000.
In the first 27 coins analyzed, there are portraits of Honorius, Valentinian III, Leo I the Thracian and Libius Severus.
Great find. They appear to all be the same denomination. What would be the size and weight of those coins.
The avg. coin would be 20mm and 4.3g. In 1993 near the the German city of Trier they found a hoard of Roman gold. Over 2000 pieces were buried in this hoard. The dates range from 63 AD to 196 AD. They published a book with a write up of each coin. I hope something like this is done with this Byzantine find.
It's amazing! It's a fairytale or leprechaun story come true! Finding a pot of gold coins is what children dream about
Very cool! Thanks for sharing even though it’s not in English. The article wasn’t too hard to understand. Thanks for sharing. Crazy that things like this are still being found and will continue to be.
