Hi All, I am active on the Ancients section of this board but know next to nothing about world coins. I’m hoping you can help me answer a friend’s question. My friend’s late father was an American soldier in WWII, and she thinks he might have brought this bracelet back from Belgium. She’d like two questions answered: 1. What kind of coins are in the bracelet? 2. Does this bracelet have any consequential value, beyond, of course, sentimental value? Thanks for looking.
well from the bottom pic it looks like a Belgium 1 franc 1940 mintage 10,865,000 , made of nickel that was gold plated after the whole bracelet was made. the coins are cheap ranging from 0.20 cents-$4.00 dollars from lowest grade to highest grade wise.
Belated side note, but it does not affect the value anyway: The bracelet has both types of that coin, the Dutch-French version (BELGIE - BELGIQUE) and the French-Dutch version (BELGIQUE - BELGIE). The shields show the CoA of three Belgian provinces: West-Vlaanderens (at the top), Namur (bottom left) and Limburg (bottom right). The coats of arms of the other provinces are on other denominations ... Christian
