1982 D copper penny

Is this a small date ?

Large date.

 

Not to be rude, but after 1500 of these, how come none of them ever look up a photo first of a small date, before coming here with their large date 1982-D copper,
and ask if it's a small date? Is it easier to sign up here, make a post, upload a photo than it is to put in "1982 small date, photo" into Google?
There are billions of these 1982 large dates and there's going to be thousands more of this same question.
Is this where the future is headed?
I will give an example which happened a short while ago.
I'm waiting for a red light and I see a woman plop out of a beater car. Some guy has just pulled into the Church's Fried Chicken and he's going over to her with a gas can. So he is putting gas in her car and her hand is hanging down right where he is pouring the gas, holding a lit cigarette.

 

She really should have googled it.

 

I don't mind giving the answer. But I was serious. These people expect other people to do their legwork and homework for them.
"JUST TELL ME THE ANSWER, I AM BUSY PLAYING VIDEO GAMES."
But the reality is, it would be easier to just look up the photo of a small date.

 

One of the easier references.

For quick spotting potential candidates try to familiarize yourself with the distance of the "2" in 1982 from the rim. Large date will be closer to the rim and small date will be farther away.

 

Let's make it easier! If the 2 {{{{{{{{ looks like the font! No it's not going to make you rich! And not being rude because I've been there!

 

Yes another 1982 D question...I did look at the photos as someone had suggested earlier, but I am new at collecting and cannot tell If mine is a small or large date cent. I have uploaded a large date 1982 D & the one that I am not sure about. They do look different in size and distance from the rim.The bust is larger on the large date as well as the D being different. They both weigh 3.1. Can someone tell me if It is a small date copper cent?

 

Both large. It's possible that no one ever finds another 1982-D small date copper. And if they do it's not going to be you or I. There's also some other coins that were supposed to be zinc, minted on copper. 1983-D, 1989-D and some others. It's not just the 1982-D small date.
Just compare the 2 to the photo:

Yes, it's a small date, but its appearance is certainly suggestive of being zinc.

I agree ! Certainly shows some blistering. That's what you want to find weighing 3.1 g . I used to get excited when I would find one until I got familiar with the zincolns! Happy hunting!

Another thread said a 1983 Philly copper has turned up.
So it's not just the 1982-D SD, and in fact more 1983 off metals have been discovered than the lone 1982-D SD copper.
