The obverse is very recognizable, thanks to my love of republic coins, as Mercury wearing that wacky winged hat of his. But the reverse is a head scratcher. As much as I want to see a prow on the reverse, I don't. It kinda looks to me like a caduceus (there's also some really fun looking reverses with winged shoes and caduceus and an obverse more like mine). But all the coins with just the caduceus on the reverse I've found on acsearch have him wearing a rounded hat instead of flat one like my coin on the obverse. It's lil and bronze. 15 MM. Any help IDing is appreciated? Also, post thems Mercurys!
As a general rule, when searching for Greek coins, even Roman provincials with Greek inscriptions, use Greek terms, such as Hermes (Mercury) and kerykeion (caduceus).
Great point @red_spork and @Roman Collector. I totally had my head in the sand thinking of RRs as those are the only coins with mercury(HERMES) that I have. Winner winner chicken dinner @maridvnvm! That absolutely is my coin. I've never heard of Prousias I, led alone Prousias II Kynegos! I'll have fun reading up what I can on him. Good point @Andres2. It was late and I should've taken the time to crop it. I appreciate you doing it for me. And Awesome semuncia. 220 BCE was a pivotal time for our boys in Rome! Thanks @TIF, how fun and thanks for the help team! Anymore Mercury/Hermes please share!
Mercury is not the most common god but there are a few. They should show the winged hat and caduceus. Marcus Aurelius Claudius II
