The first coin I acquired outside of my 12 Caesars focus was a Hadrian aureus with this reverse type: HADRIAN 117 - 138 A.D. AV Aureus (6.87 g.) Rome ca. 124 - 128 A.D. RIC II 193d HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS Laureate bust right, drapery on l. shoulder. Rev. She-wolf stg. Left, suckling Romulus and Remus; COS above, III in exergue. Biaggi 598
Not a coin, but here is a replica of the famous Lupa Capitolina, which Il Duce gave our city in 1931.
Those Remus and Romulus of Arles above look like gorillas. They don't seem to suck milk, but rather eating coconuts. Am I seeing right..Lol. ?

Cilicia, Ninica-Claudiopolis, Maximinus I., AD 235-238 AE 30, 14.59g Ref. SNG Levante 618; Levante Supp. 170 (this coin); SNG Paris 791; SNG von A Aulock 5775 Best regards
That is a great example of the Ninica! Mine has a countermark star behind the head. What is that there on yours? I always liked the way they continued the obverse legend in a second row at the right.
Amazing coins/wolves for sure: Roma City Commemorative Lugdunum (Lyons) Mint 330-331 AD Obverse: VRBS ROMA, helmeted bust of Roma left wearing imperial mantle Reverse: Romulus and Remus suckling from she-wolf, two stars above, (dot)SLG in exergue References: RIC 247 -R3 Very Rare(not sure if they found a bunch of these in a hoard recently or not bumping it down in rarity? -the danger of thinking an LRB is rare) Size: 17mm, 2.52g @Alegandron - you posted one of these I think with dot-slg- wildwinds says they are very rare- maybe not? if two show up here at random
Yeah, I believe I had seen these as “rare”. However, I don’t know a lot about LRB’s, except that they made BUNCHES of them. Ergo, I don’t describe it as rare. That said, it is nice to HAVE a rare one. Lastly, it IS conceivable that you and I hold the few, as the internet communication makes the world smaller.
Wow! AE30. Here is the smallest I have seen: Helena imitative AE 8mm 0.50g Obv: Helena (The portrait could also be Fausta.) Rev: Wolf and twins Refs: None. No clue where it came from either!
LOL, wow, cool coin! Took me a moment, but got the reverse Rom and Rem under Lupa... And, hey! LOL, References all check!
