This PCGS graded 1856 Seated Liberty Half is my latest upgrade. Please disregard the lint and debris - poor eyesight will be blamed. Anyway, what say ye?
For those at 45- are you thinking the cleaned star takes it down to XF? Edit- in case I missed an Ed Wood incident of some sort.
PCGS is known to downgrade coins with AU sharpness but dark original toning like this. If the coin like this has an old cleaning with lighter surface color they'll grade it AU for some reason. Therefore, my guess is EF-45.
EF45 was my first impression so I'm sticking with it but AU-something would not shock me. And yeah, there's enough lint to keep a seamstress busy for a few minutes.. (Mine is usually cat hair. One of my cats is at my keyboard as I type so any misspellings was the cat)
I'm apparently late to the party, but I would have guess EF Details, Spot Removed. That super ugly random white spot should not be on that coin, and very clearly and distractingly shows that the coin was treated. The rest of the coin is really nice, but sorry, PCGS definitely got this one wrong.
